What is Sapporo Lilac Festival?
The Lilac Festival was started at the call of a cultural figure who wanted to hold a cultural event during the season of lilac flowers.
In recent years, the festival has become established as a spring festival in Sapporo and is known as an event that welcomes the arrival of early summer.
At each venue, in addition to events on special stages, there are booths where visitors can experience a variety of activities and booths where they can enjoy gourmet foods unique to Hokkaido, attracting many people every year.

Access to Sapporo Lilac Festival Odori venue
Since no parking is provided at the Odori site, I reccomend public transportation to visit there.
You can get off at Odori Station on the Subway Tozai Line (Namboku and Toho Lines) and exit from Exit 2 and you will see the venue immediately.

By the way, one thing to note about the Odori 5-chome venue is that almost all stalls close by 4pm!
If you want to visit the 5-chome venue, it would be best to get there by 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the latest.
Shops & Restaurants at Odori 6-chome venue
The 6-chome area surrounded by trees and greenery is the venue for “6-Chome Cafe Bar Village”.
There are mainly three kinds of stalls in the venue. “Ristorante Selection ” featuring local gourmet foods, “Sweets Selection ” mainly featuring sweets such as parfaits and crepes, and “Sapporo Coffee City Lilac Station ” where famous coffee shops in Sapporo change their stalls daily.
One of the characteristics of this event was that there were more Western and Asian and other ethnic restaurants compared to the 7-Chome venue.

Shops & Restaurants at Odori 7-chome venue
“LILAC WINE GARDEN 2023” is being held at the spacious 7-chome venue.
As the name suggests, there are many wineries from all over Hokkaido, with more than 40 wineries participating in this event! At the venue, you can taste wines from all over Hokkaido as well as specialty foods from Hokkaido.
The wine booths at LILAC WINE GARDEN 2023 are divided into two sections, one on the west side and the other on the east side, each offering a different wine menu.
